Students tracking their own progress

In Room 5 there is a strong focus on students taking ownership of their work and being a part of the data which shows their academic progression.

I created a system in Maths where students are aware of the gaps in their knowledge and the  strategies they need to acquire to move them to the next level. After lessons and practise, students use their 'evidence book' to show that they can perform the strategy. If this is shown 3 times in three different ways (e.g with numbers, word problems, within rich tasks) then they conference with the teacher and tick this off.

Reflection: This has worked well in Room 5 so far this year. Student are more motivated and are self-challenged to move up to the next stage.
