Visit to Otatara Pa.

Today we tramped up to Otatara Pa (sacred) burial site. We performed our school haka, Kia Toa, in the domain which echoed throughout Hastings 

How we use ICT to raise student achievement.

1:1 student ipads will be introduced later on in the year. Currently, both students and teacher in Room 5 use the Interactive Whiteboard (IWB) and mini-laptops. The IWB can be used as a projector from the laptop and the teacher ipad can be airdropped onto it also. This is handy for teacher instruction. Students also use it to bring up their work from their mini-laptop to request feedback and to share their work with others. They also use it to support their knowledge in maths (for example basic fact game practise).

Tapping student interest

Several of the boys in Room 5 follow basketball and worship Michael Jordan. Thought I could use this to drive home some important messages.
